Binns Track

The vast majority of travellers who want to travel through Australia by 4WD camper put the focus on the Kimberley and the Top End. That's a pity because you can do plenty of off-road travel in other parts of Oz. A little-travelled route is the Binns Track, an unsealed route that is best to plan about 12 days for. An interesting route for those wanting to travel from Adelaide to Broome. This is an iconic drive that leads adventurous travellers through some of the country's most remote landscapes.

Some information about the track

Length: approximately 2200 kilometres.
Location: the track runs from Mount Dare, near the SA border through the NT, ending (or starting) in Timber Creek.
Terrain: varies from sandy and rocky 4WD tracks to river crossings.
Duration: the track is doable in about 12 days, of course depending on driving conditions.

Highlights of the route

Nowadays every rental 4WD camper is equipped with a personal locator beacon that you can activate in case of emergency towards the rescue services. It works even in the most remote areas of the Outback.
