Australia Campers is a booking agency specializing in camper hire throughout Australia and was founded in 2006 by Dutchman Richard Haze. Even before the company was officially established, he had spent several years hosting information sessions about various parts of Australia for travel organisations such as Australia Express and World Contact Travel. His first visit to Australia dates back to 1993, when he and his wife travelled from Cairns (then still a relatively small town) to Melbourne in a Holden Ute campervan from Koala Campers, a company that later became part of Britz. From 2002 onwards, he not only gave presentations but also arranged 2WD campervan and motorhome hire in Australia under the name Totally Campers. In 2005, this company name was transferred to former Dutch residents living in Melbourne. Shortly afterwards, Australia Campers was established under the registered company name Discovery Campertours. With 31 years of experience, including several extended journeys of several months through Oz with his family, Richard is one of the most experienced Australia travel specialists in the Netherlands. In 2012, he expanded his expertise internationally by launching a website specialising in 4WD campers. Off-road travel and travelling with children are among Australia Campers’ key areas of expertise.

The initial websites were aimed at the Dutch-speaking market and featured only 2WD rental campers. Later, this was expanded internationally to include 4WD camper hire. A few older versions of our website can still be viewed via the Internet Archive: 2003, 2005, 2012 and 2016. In autumn 2026, the current website will be replaced by a new version.

These days, Australia Campers has branches in Australia and the Netherlands and a large selection of Australian rental 4WD campers. The Australian office is staffed by Laura Anderson. We have travelled many tens of thousands of kilometres across Australia in various ways: by 4WD Bushcamper, station wagon with camping equipment, Holden Ute canopy, 4WD car with off road camper trailer and/or off road caravan, 5 person motorhome, Hitop campervan, 4WD car with two rooftop tents, buy back 4WD camper and own 4WD car. By travelling the continent regularly, we continue to gain extensive knowledge and can assist you, the traveller, in setting up your plans to contribute to a fun and successful holiday!

A 4WD camper is simply the best way to travel the country. We love the vastness of the outback and driving on dirt roads and tracks in low visited National Parks. When it comes to 4WD camper hire, we operate internationally, with customers mainly from Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, France, Singapore, the United States and Canada.
