Do you want to travel in Western Australia with 6 or 7 people? Consider renting the Toyota Prado and Jayco Swan Outback combination. A Prado has 7 seats with seatbelts and in the unfolded trailer offers plenty of space to sleep for 6 adults or 4 adults and 3 young kids. The trailer is quick and easy to set up/unfold, do get an idea please find the video's on this page. Inside the luggage can be stored in several cabinets, underneath the corner seat and underneath the couches of the dinette. The front hatch offers storage space as well but is partly taken by the gas bottle. If you take a lot of luggage it’s good to know the Prado can be equipped with a roof rack.
On both the front and rear bed you sleep on a innerspring mattress. Furthermore the trailer is equipped with a pullout bed system, 4-burner cooktop (which isn’t even available in most motorhomes), grill, microwave, water tank, etc. The 3-way fridge runs on 240V, 12V and gas so you can feel at ease about camping on a location without electricity because the fridge can run on gas and your groceries remain cooled. Overall a Jayco Swan is a very good trailer to hit the road with.
Please note that a Jayco Swan is not allowed on unsealed roads! Most families who rent this trailer install it on a camping grounds along the way and use this location as a base camp to explore the area with the Toyota Prado, including unsealed roads. A good example is the camping of Monkey Mia. They leave the camper trailer at the camping during the day and discover the near Francois Peron with the Prado. Other examples are the combinations of Coral Bay-Ningaloo Station, Tom Price-Karijini NP, Bremer Bay-Fitzgerald River NP and Hamelin Station-Steep Point.
The rental price of this combo compares with a 2WD motorhome. Admittedly in a motorhome you have a toilet and shower at your disposal. However, in that case you’re always stuck to sealed roads while you’ve got much more freedom with a Prado as you can drive on unsealed roads as well.
